1. Inspect shipping container/pallet for damage. Report damage to delivery service immediately and fill out delivery service’s claim form. Keep any damaged goods subject to examination.
2. Remove H&Z VB Series electric vibrators from shipping container/pallet.
3. If anything is missing contact Martin Engineering or a representative.

Turn off and lock out/tag out all energy sources to conveyor/ loading systems to mounting structure.
4. Before installing H&Z VB Series electric vibrators , turn off and lock out/tag out all energy sources to conveyor/loading systems to mounting structure according to ANSIstandards (see “References”).

If equipment will be installed in an enclosed area, gas level or
dust content must be tested before using a cutting torch or welding. Using a cutting torch or welding in an area with gas or dust may cause an explosion.
5. If using a cutting torch or welding, test atmosphere for gas level or dust content.
6. Mounting surface must be strong and flat, 0.01 in. (0.25 mm) across vibrator feet. (This will minimize internal stress to vibrator casting when tightening mount bolts. Welding in the area of the mounting surface could affect its flatness.)
7. Make sure mounting surface is free of paint and debris and foot of vibrator is clean.

IMPORTANT
Read entire section before beginning work. This manual provides instructions for installations onto steel bins and hoppers only. For other installations, call Martin Engineering or a representative.

If installation instructions are not followed, structure and vibrator can be damaged. Abusing or handling vibrator carelessly will accelerate wear and shorten bearing life.
Mounting vibrator onto structure
1. See Figure 1. Locate vibrator in lower 1/4 to 1/3 of structure slope length.If second vibrator is required, mount 180° from first vibrator and halfway up slope.

Never weld structure with vibrator mounted and wired.
Welding may cause damage to motor windings and bearings.
IMPORTANT
The object of H&Z VB Series electric vibrators on bins, hoppers, and chutes is
to transmit vibration through the wall into the product
contained inside. If structure is not made rigid, vibrator may
draw high amperage and move material less efficiently.
Make sure structure is free of paint before mounting vibrator.
2. If using customer-supplied mounting plate to mount vibrator onto structure, do the following:
a. Make sure plate is at least the size of vibrator base.
b. Locate plate so that vibrator can be positioned
c. Weld mounting plate onto structure.

3. If using mounting plate and channel assembly to mount vibrator onto structure , do the following:
a. Locate channel so that vibrator can be positioned.
b. Extend channel at least 3/4 the length of sloped wall. Cut off end(s) of channel if necessary to fit on structure.
c. Skip-weld channel in place: Weld 3 in. (76 mm), then skip 2 in.
(51 mm). Repeat for entire perimeter of channel. Do not weld last 1 in.(25 mm) of either end of channel or any corner.
d. Install vibrator onto mounting plate.

Never weld structure with vibrator mounted and wired.
Welding may cause damage to motor windings and bearings.
Use only new Grade 5 bolts and lock nuts to install vibrator.
Old fasteners can break and cause damage to vibrator or
structure.
Do not use split lock washers to install vibrator onto mount.
Damage to vibrator could result.
Tighten mounting bolts in sequence shown in Figure 3. If not
tightened in order, H&Z VB Series electric vibrators casting could be damaged.
4. Before installing vibrator onto mount, apply thread sealing compound to all bolts.
5. Install vibrator onto mount with new lock nuts, compression washers, and bolts according to Table I. Tighten bolts in order given in Figure 3 to avoid damaging vibrator casting. (Contact fastener manufacturer for specific information regarding bolt torque.)

6. After the vibrator has been operated for 10 to 20 minutes, check bolt torque. Tighten if necessary.

Mechanical Construction

Precautions :
In order to be able to choose the proper sense of revolution, not only the force of vibration but also the output of the electric vibrator has to be taken into consideration. If no special calculation is made for the vibrator, the temperature of the vibrator must be checked during the first hour of operation. The outward temperature of the vibrator must not exceed 800C If the Temperature becomes higher than 800C due to overload, either the setting for Centrifugal Force should be brought down or a much powerful vibrator has to be used. In order to avoid overload. It is necessary to mount a thermal circuit breaker, which can be supplied at extra cost. Since the temperature sensing elements are to be embedded in the winding itself, the order for this overload protection has to be given long with the vibrator.

Securing the VIBRATOR :
The Vibrator should be fixed to a well faced plate with high tensile bolts of adequate size and secured tightly by means of nuts and lock washers. These nuts should be tightened for the first time after about four working hours of the vibrator. Further checks are to be made every week. A complete fastner kit can be supplied with the vibrator at an extra cost.

It being obvious from the hereinabove description, the following is possible, according to the invention.
    (1) the positive and negative pulse voltage DC output voltages ±Vp can be freely changed by changing the voltage of the DC power source ( DC input voltage ) V₁, thus the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators pump can be operated:
    (2) the positive and negative pulse voltages ±Vp can be held constant by stabilizing the DC power source, thus the operation of the piezo-electric vibrator pump can be stabilized;
    (3) the output frequency adjusted for the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators pump can be set by changing the time constant and the oscillation frequency, therefore the frequency adjustment for the piezo-electric vibrator pump can be made so that maximum efficiency is achieved.
    (4) the piezo-electric vibrator pump can be operated with maximum electric power rather than with a conventional sine wave output voltage as positive and negative pulse voltages±Vp can be obtained;
    (5) the invertor can be simple and smaller and of low-cost construction as a switching element with a gate is not used;
    (6) the power consumption can be reduced and accidents almost eliminated as compared with the conventional device in which an output voltage is changed as the positive and negative pulse voltages ±Vp are changed by changing the DC input voltage V₁; and
   (7) on-off states of the npn transistors and pnp transistors Tr₁, Tr₂, Tr₃, and Tr₄ can be positively switched on and off even if the frequency and switching speed becomes higher with the two output operation signals Vd₁, Vd₂ with the pulse quiescent period t₁ of the driving circuit 28 to which the output triangular wave voltage VΔ of the triangular wave oscillation circuit 27 is input and from which two operation signal Vd₁, Vd₂ whose operating points are different from each other are output after the quiescent period t₁. Therefore, the four transistors are not at all, if transiently, short-circuited and there is no possibility of overheating damage, and also the pump can be operated with alternately output positive and negative pulse voltages±Vp with a pulse quiescent period t₁ from the output terminal.
 From the hereinabove recited reason, the above-mentioned pure sine wave inverter is suitable for driving an electric power source for a H&Z VB Series electric vibrators pump, and therefore, the piezo-electric vibrator pump itself with the invertor according to the invention.

A H&Z VB Series electric vibrators pump according to claim 5 including an inverter in which said pulse generating circuit (29) includes a bridge circuit (30), said bridge circuit (30) comprises a npn transistor and a pnp transistor arranged on two opposed sides respectively and a second npn transistor and pnp transistor arranged on opposite sides respectively wherein said npn transistors and said pnp transistors on respective opposite sides are connected so that said bridge circuit is formed having said npn transistors and pnp transistors alternately changed to on and off states, said two operating signals being applied to the two input terminals of said bridge circuit respectively, whereby a direct current is applied between the voltage terminals thereof and plus and minus pulse voltages with a pulse quiescent period is alternately obtained from the output terminals thereof, the output of said inverter being applied between electrodes of said H&Z VB Series electric vibrators.

The H&Z VB Series electric vibrators 2 may be a H&Z VB Series electric vibrators such as a H&Z VB Series electric vibrators of laminate type in which a H&Z VB Series electric vibrators are laminated on both outer sides of a shim as of phosphor bronze, or a H&Z VB Series electric vibrators or of monolayer type as ceramic, polymer H&Z VB Series electric vibrators, which is provided with thin film electrodes 3,4.

Further both sides of the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators, including its part held in the casing 1, is covered with the elastic elastomer having modulus of londitudinal elasticity of less than 5×10⁸ dyn/cm², preferably of less than 2.0×10⁸ dyn/cm², more preferably 1.5×10⁸ dyn/cm².

As the elastomer, elastic material can be used such as silicone rubber, urethane rubber, natural rubber, SBR( styrenebutadiene rubber ), cloroprene rubber, Neoprene( Trade mark of du Pont for cloroprene rubber ), NBR( nitrile rubber ), SBS( styrenebutadienestyrene copolymer ), hydrogenated SBR, fluorosilicone rubber, fluoroelastomer, EPR( ethylene propylene rubber ), ethylene vinylacetate copolymer or the like.

Under the condition that the suction and discharge of fluid is performed with the vibration of the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators to which A C voltage e is applied, coating the piezo-electric vibrator 2 with the elastic elastomer 10 results in the improvement of the lifetime and the perfofmance of the pump and the increase of uses of the pump.

When the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators is not covered with the elestic elestomer 10, there are disadvantages that the insuration characteristic is worse, because of the snail amplitude the performance of the pump is lower, and because the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators is fixed direcly to the casing 1, stresses is imposed on the supported part of the piezo-electric vibrator so that the H&Z VB Series  electric vibrators 2 break easily and the noise is made.

However, when the piezo-electric vibrator is coated with the elastic elastomer 10, insulation characteristics improve, and the amplitude of the piezo-electric vibrator increases because the piezo-elastic vibrator 2 is suspended in the elastic elastomer 10. Thus pump performance is improved. According to the invention, the H&Z VB Series  electric vibrators is not fixed directry to casing 1, but elastic elastomer 10 is fixed to the casing 1, stresses being difficult to impose on the supported part of the elastomer 10 by the casing 1. Therefore, the H&Z VB Series  electric vibrators will be not broken, and noise will be difficult to make.

Further, it becomes possible to flow many sorts of fluid, by laminating many types of plastic films on the elastic elastomer 10 with which the H&Z VB Series  electric vibrators is covered.

In order to demonstrate the effect of the pump according to the invention experiments were made comparing an example of the H&Z VB Series  electric vibrators coated with the elastomer according to the invention with a comparison of the piezo-electric vibrator which is conventionally not coated, under the same conditions with respect to self-suction ability, pressure, and flow. The results are shown in the following table:

In the usual H&Z VB Series electric vibrators not coated with elastic elastomer, when suction and discharge of fluid are performed by vibrating the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators 2, the are disadvantages are that the amplitude thereof is small, the performance is inferior, noise occurs, and stresses are imposed on the fixed part of the vibrator so that the vibrator may be broken. On the other hand, in a H&Z VB Series electric vibrators according to the present invention which is coated with elastic elastomer layer 10, there are the advantages of layer amplitude and higher performance because the elastic elastomer layer coating the vibrator 2 is secured to and within the casing 1 so that the vibrator is suspended in the elastic elastomer. Insulation characteristics are excellent because fluid does not come directly in contact with the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators, noise is lower, and stresses are not directly imposed on the H&Z VB Series electric vibrators. Therefore the electric vibrator 2 is difficult to break because the H&Z VB Series-electric vibrator 2 is not secured directly to the casing.
Further, the deformation of the elastic elastomer along the pump casing 1 results in a remarkably reduced clearance, preventing the H&Z VB Series-electric vibrator from breaking by colliding with the casing. Therefor, the self-suction ability of the H&Z VB Series-electric vibrator pump is improved.

Referring to the usual High Frequency VB Series electric vibrators pump, the usual VB Series-electric pump comprises a H&Z VB Series-electric vibrator 2 mounted in a casing 1 having a peripheral part secured to casing 1 within casing 1. The piezo-electric vibrator 2 is formed of two laminated piezo-electric layers 9,9 and electrode 3 inserted between the two piezo-electric layers 9,9, and electrodes 4,4 laminated on both sides of laminated two piezo-electric layers 9,9. Lead wires 11,12 are connected to the electrodes 3,4. The piezo-electric vibrator pump is provided with a suction non-return valve 5 (check valve)and a discharge non-return valve 6. An alternate current voltage e is applied between the electrodes 3,4 of said piezo-electric vibrator 2 through lead wires 11,12 which results in vibration of said piezo-electric vibrator causing fluid to be sucked through the suction non-return valve 5 and discharged through the discharge non-return valve 6 with the vibration of the piezo-electric vibrator.
However, because of direct attachment of the
electric vibrators 2 to the casing, the usual pump has many disadvantages. The vibration of the piezo-electric vibrator  is restricted so that the amplitude of the piezo-electric viblator  becomes smaller, its performance is lower, its insulation characteristic is inferior, noise occurs due to the vibration of the piezo-electric vibrator, and in some cases stresses are imposed on the parts of the piezo-electric vibrator attached to the casing to such an extent that the vb series-electric vibrator may be broken.
